Rocket Man

Rocket Man

Work:: Rocket Man (S524526529)

Production:: (T792932078)

Jimmy Pride, rocket man is charismatic and tough and famous for driving a supercharged black hearse and firing off illegal rockets; he's scared of nobody; he does a man's job he's proud of - and as a white heterosexual man he's supposed to be king of the world. Somehow it doesn't fell like that now...When he builds a house for his widowed mother he has to fight for it. At the same time, there is a woman involved: Shirley, a mother of what may be Jimmy's son - but the Child Support Agency, and Shirley, haven't quite caught up with Jimmy yet...This is more shocking and controversial than the Tony Martin story and certainly unsuitable for children; but there is romance, humour and bravery (of a dark kind). Rocket Man has the truth and apparent simplicity of a folk-tale. Inspired by a true story, Rocket Man throws a punch at New Labour and is 'passionate and heartfelt, darkly funny but overwhelmingly alive'.
