In 2005 a unique collaboration was established between the University's Department of Spanish and the Byre Theatre when 94 first year students staged Ram?n del Valle-Indan's Romance de. This successful production was followed by Divinas palabras in 2007 and Luces de bohemia in 2010. With the support of the Banco de Santander, SP1002 are back. Following from the premise that plays are written to be performed, this year's first year cohort of SP1002 students will be studying Ramon del Valle-Inclan's "barbaric comedy" Cara de plata (1923) by rehearsing and performing it (rather than by studying it through the traditional means of lectures and seminar discussions). Spanish speakers and students of Spanish are welcome to attend this one night only production in Spanish of one of the greatest plays of the twentieth century.
