R-3

Work:: R-3 (S01850099604)

As archaeologists unearth the body of Richard III in a car park in Leicester, Centre Five Productions' new play R-3, unearths the mind of the man in a Victorian church in Chalk Farm. Centre Five Productions' new show R-3 is "a fascinating project which will, once and for all, join the dots between the alleged Tudor propaganda of Shakespeare's play and the truth." Jonathan Slinger, Richard III, RSC. R-3 is a one man show using Shakespeare's text, but also challenging Shakespeare's interpretation. R-3 creates a previously unheard voice for Richard, more human (although not necessarily humane) vulnerable and personal, shedding light on a less populist history. Through the centuries Richard III has been judged in his role as king, leader and tyrant - a figure so lazily labelled for so long, have we lost sight of the man behind the myth? As Richard challenges his accusers, we confront ourselves on how we label, pigeon-hole and sabotage our leaders, our peers, our family and also ourselves in many areas of life.
