Purple

Work:: Purple (S0793196973)

Four friends form a band and meet for practice in a freezing, damp, disused air raid shelter deep beneath an abandoned factory. They can't play, they can't sing and they don't know any songs. Still, everyone has to start somewhere. Purple is a terse, claustrophobic play focusing on the drummer and the guitarist over the course of the evening's rehearsal as they tacitly test each other, silently struggle for power within the band and try to decide whether it, and even each other, are worth committing to.
Author Jon Fosse
