Pram Talk
Work:: Pram Talk (S213362253)
Pram Talk is a timely, authentic and entertaining dramatic monologue which follows a new mum who has kept her baby a secret from the toxic father. Dancer turned teacher, the complex Bronte has pressure coming at her from all sides: her mum with her (un)helpful news clippings about parenting, her boss who seems to be trying to get rid of her, her mental health team chasing her up about medication and an unopened letter that threatens to unravel everything she is working towards. Meanwhile, the soundtrack of her youth reminds Bronte of her old life of fun, bringing back memories of her best friend who she hasn't spoken to in a while. Can Bronte live up to the social media image of new motherhood? Can she forge new friendships and rebuild old ones? Can she learn to be happy again amid the overwhelming rage, worry and responsibility of this new life? As uplifting as it is enlightening, Bronte's moving and intelligent story is told with wit and humour, whilst confronting some of the big issues facing women and m/others in the UK today.
