Poppy

Work:: Poppy (S4627)

A pantomime celebration of Victorian hypocrisy colonialism, and sexual repression. Poppy is a pantomime parody which ultimately reveals how Britain acquired Hong Kong - last remnant of British Empire. First staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Poppy later won the Musical of the year award in London's West End. Poppy introduces you to Queen Victoria, the Emperor of China, two pantomime horses, Dick Whittington and a host of panto regulars - in a plot of fiendish intrigue, high on opium.
