Plastic Woman archivePlastic Woman is a disarmingly naive tale which rapidly evolves into a searing indictment of the Thai sex industry. Featuring a dynamic performance from Asadawut Luangsuntorn, a film idol in his native Thailand, it is based on Rong Wongsawan s novel, Leaving 1974. In a sparse performance space, occupied only by a table and plastic doll s head, we are told of Plastic Woman, the perfect artificial female created solely for the pleasure of men. Beautiful, totally sexually compliant and with no emotional expectations, she inspires hatred in other women and extraordinary lust in men. Plastic Woman is a magnetic show that challenges eastern and western attitudes to the multi-billion dollar sex industry, exposing a world which many choose to ignore.
