Details

Pan and Boone archivePan and Boone is a visual theatre performance with some text which has been adapted from a full-length, new play by American playwright Jeff Carey. It is the dark and whimsical tale of two boys, Pan and Boone, who inhabit the world of their father's bedtime stories, encountering bizarre, comic characters of their father's invention. The darkening stories slowly unveil to the boys the tale of their grandfather's suicide, and allude to their own father's struggles with depression. Three generations of males in one family must find their own solutions to the problems of adulthood, and the mind of a child must expand to comprehend wilful death. Despite its humour, the play poses a serious question: does the balance of life fall on the side of joy, or of sorrow?
