Orientations archiveLinda arrives in Bangalore searching for Amrit, who has disappeared from their London dance school after a class on transvestite roles in Indian folk theatre. Amrit is creating a new dance piece, based on the legend of Amba. She comes as a bride to Bhishma, but he rejects her. Swearing revenge, Amba pursues him across the world. Bhishma has been told that he cannot be killed by either man or woman. But, in her next incarnation, Amba is reborn as the eunuch Sikhandin.
