Esme and Willard have just stolen a killer whale. The beast lies dormant in the back of a lorry, 300 miles southbound on the M4, and encoldes space he shares with his two saviours/catpors. The three sit together, deserted by their driver, with little do to but pick each other apart. Esme has a history of animal activism but this stunt marks her move into the big leagues. Her calm and authorative approach is part of a wider mindset of ruthless ambition and determination to be responsible for doing something monumental. For Willard kidnapping the killer whale is less to do with an environmental conscience and more to do with a desire to look good. Look reckless. Look like a saviour. They are both out of their depth.

CORONAVIRUS: All venues in the UK were shut down on March 16, 2020, and the restrictions were finally lifted on July 19, 2021. It is important to mention that the UK Theatre Web archive listings (iUKTDb) from March 2020 to July 2021 might not be accurate due to the lack of information regarding rescheduled and cancelled shows.
