One Day All This Will Come to Nothing archiveOn the waterfront of an industrial part of the city, the corpse of a tattooed man lies washed up on the shore. For Anna, a young police officer called to the scene, it s just another man found dead. But with her boyfriend s car found abandoned near a bridge and his mobile not responding, Anna is forced to confront the fact that the next body she fishes out might well be his. In the countryside, a long way from the nearest town, a young man is trying to bury himself in the ground. Another, older man arrives and talks him out of it. Leading him safely to the city, he offers the young man the chance to disappear without dying - a new name, a new life. In a city where conversations don t end just because life has, all three learn how to live again without knowing anything for certain. At once bleak and hopeful, dark yet humorous, One Day All This Will Come to Nothing is the remarkable debut from Edinburgh writer Catherine Grosvenor.
