Funny and ultimately moving play. Beckett's masterpiece (originally written in English in 1961 as Happy Days) provides us with an unforgettable image - under a searing sun Winnie is buried, first up to her waist, then up to her neck, in a mound of sand. Her possessions, such as spectacles and her toothbrush, are the props of her very existence, along with her fading memories.
