A suite of playlets including "A Visit From Miss Prothero" and "Green Forms", much in the same style as his Talking Heads plays.A Visit from Miss Prothero - Widowed and retired from Warburtons, where he was a mainstay of management systems, Mr Dodsworth is content to potter, chat to Millie, his budgie, and branch out into evening classes in cordon bleu cookery. An unexpected visit from his one time colleague MIss Prothero, determined to fill him in on what's been happening in the old firm - and she doesn't just mean Maureen's baby - shake his world. Yes, the winds of change are blowing through Warburtons. Green Forms - Colleagues Doreen and Doris are comfortably installed in an obscure department in a large corporation, passing time with talk of artificial hips and rubber plants, punctuated with occasional filing and form filling, when a shadow falls over their settled lives - the shadow of Dorothy Binns from Newport Pagnell and the trail of change she leaves in her corporate wake.
Author Alan Bennett

Production:: (T01882465946)

In the first of these brilliant one-act plays, A Visit From Miss Prothero, Arthur Dodsworth is pottering around at home, enjoying some time to himself. Now retired after thirty years at Warburton's he had thought he'd moved on to new worlds; pottery classes, bowling and looking after the budgie. But when Miss Prothero calls in unexpectedly to fill him in on what has happened to the old firm in his absence, he can hardly believe what he is hearing. In Green Forms Doris and Doreen face a dilemma. Surely the green form is not intended for Precepts and Invoices? It looks as if the dreaded influence of Newport Pagnell may be about to intrude on their cushy working day where the major concern until now has been whether or not it is Personnel who have pinched their washbasin plug!
