Presented by a repertory ensemble, Mysteries present three traditional plays this Christmas mixing together live music, an elemental setting and bold story telling. This epic saga, intimately told, has been developed and devised by the company from a variety of Medieval Mystery and Miracle texts as well as contemporary sources. Spanning three evenings these plays can be enjoyed as individually experiences or joined together to be experienced as a whole. From the enigmatic birth of the world and the struggles of the first generations of human beings in Creation; to the hope and possibility that spring from the suffering of Jesus in Passion; to Eternity, which ties up all loose ends, leads us to the very threshold of death and gives an intimation of something beyond. The music in Mysteries is performed live and is devised from a variety of sources: Medieval English; Georgian Orthodox; Bulgarian, Scandinavian and English Folk; Spanish Sephardic and the Salvation Army hymnal.
