Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts - Postgraduate Directors' Season: A Butcher of Distinction/The Freedom of the City

Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts

Work:: Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (S1259792641)

Production:: Postgraduate Directors' Season: A Butcher of Distinction/The Freedom of the City (T1487667352)

A Butcher of Distinction - wo orphaned boys have been forced from the rural wilderness they know and arrive in a bleak brutal London they don't. Seeking refuge in a pub basement they plot their escape, only to find themselves locked in a battle with the pub landlord over their dead father's sordid legacy. The Freedom of the City - During a peaceful demonstration three civilians find themselves trapped in the Londonderry Mayor's office. Outside, the world uses their plight to paint them as terrorists or martyrs. Inspired by true events, Brian Friel's 1973 classic is still potent, especially in the light of the 2010 Saville Inquiry which declared the Bloody Sunday shootings unjustifiable. A cast of just three actors play all 17 parts in this production which asks the question what is the reality and how does it become history?
