Motherhood archiveDuring the Nazi rule of Germany in the 1930s more than 17,000 deaf people were forcibly sterilised as part of government policy. Many were killed. Motherland follows the life of one women, Gertrude, through school, marriage and the rise of Nazism. A tale of love, loss and survival seen through the eyes of a group of friends, some deaf by birth, some deaf by accident.
