Humankind, we have declared war. For years, the fairyfolk, pixies, sprite or fay (They don't really care what you call them at the end of the day) have lived quietly alongside us. They have watched us ruin their home through pollution, consumerism, aggression and technologism. But they've had enough. Written in spoken word poetry,
Mischief and Mayhem is a cry for help from the creatures we share our world with, and an order, to get off our asses and do something about it.
Mischief and Mayhem is a long form poem exploring conversations surrounding the ecological crisis, consumerist culture and technological dystopianism through the lense of ancient, pissed off fairies. We are introduced to 4 fairies in turn, as they ask the audience to listen to their stories, and then, hopefully, change their ways.
Mischief and Mayhem is a twist on the Flower Fairies poems written by Cecily Mary Barker with sections inspired by The Skriker by Caryl Churchill and the poetry of Kae Tempest.
