Mamoushka (a radio play) archiveMamoushka is a radio play by the late Louise Forbes and is loosely based on the life of Maurice Dorfman ( Melvyn in this play), and his family. The story spans from 1901 to WW2. Maurice's Jewish family fled the pogroms in Russia (now Ukraine), in the early 1900's, eventually settling in Clapham, South London. They ran the haberdasher shop, Jeannette's, on Clapham High Street. It remained unchanged for 60 years, and was running until Maurice's death in 2020. The audience are welcome to bring in a quiet craft project to work on as they listen.
