Lucky You archiveGrange, Florida. A nice neat American town. Shiner's Ma thinks she saw the face of Jesus in a road stain and now the pilgrims come most days to take a look. Nothing like the coach trade they get at Demencio's. His weeping fibreglass Madonna is a miracle (when the pump doesn't block). People'll believe anything. Bode and Chub think the IRS is in league with NATO and the UN, and they're all in league with big Government and Arabs and elements on Wall Street... So the two rednecks had best form a militia - like it says in the first amendment - and protect all decent white Americans from the threat. Then they win the lottery!! FOURTEEN MILLION DOLLARS!! Well - half the lottery. The other half's won by JoLayne Lucks - and OF COURSE - she's African American... and a vet. Why the HELL should they share the money with... with... So they beat her up and steal her ticket. But JoLayne's not going to take that lying down. She gets together with Tom Krome - investigative journalist - hungry for ACTION. A wild chase ensues as JoLayne and Tom pursue the two heavily-armed psychopaths, their dim-bulb young recruit and a Hooter's waitress... that's Amber, their sexy hostage (oh those long long legs...) to a climax that explodes with all the wild and hilarious mayhem that is Carl Hiaasen's hallmark.
