Lotte's Journey archiveLotte's Journey is based on the life of the German Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon, who chronicled her life story in more than 1,000 paintings and died in Auschwitz at the age of 26. The play is set on the train that took her to her death. Her final days are paralleled with flashbacks of her life and paintings: the darkness of the journey set against the myriad colours of her life.
