First time playwright, Hannah Murphy, reflects the unstable world of 1930s society through the unusual antics of Unity and Decca Mitford, sisters united in blood but divided by belief. Unity Mitford, described as Hitler s girlfriend, was the only person to maintain a close personal relationship with both Winston Churchill and Hitler, whilst her sister Decca Mitford eloped to Spain with Esmond Romilly (Winston Churchill s nephew) to join the Communist Party.
Losing Unity examines issues of sibling rivalry, political allegiance and the power of infatuation.
