Judith Bloom archiveJudith Bloom is a beautifully crafted tragi-comedy of missed opportunities. The complexities and simple banalities of Dan and Jude's relationship are presented in a series of pictures framed in Elkins' elliptical language and compelling subtext. At times the story unfolds with the elegance and nuance of a formal dance and at others with the precision and directness of the cut-throat razor. Gently but minutely Elkins dissects the everyday cruelties inflicted by people who love each other.
