Set in Boston Massachusetts, Joined at the Head is the tale of the relationship between three high school contemporaries some twenty years on. Jim, now a high school English teacher is married to terminally ill Maggy. He bumps into an old flame - also called Maggie - now a best-selling novelist. Jim's invitation to visit results in an unlikely but immediate friendship between Maggie the writer and Maggy Jim's wife. In acting as the play's narrator, Maggie examines both her own career and her new friendship with Jim's wife.
