Irish Peacock and Scarlet Marquess - The Real Trial of Oscar Wilde archiveThe Wilde vs. Marquess of Queensberry libel trial has become one of the most infamous literary scandals of the late nineteenth century, which led ultimately to Wilde's imprisonment for gross indecency. Corin Redgrave (as Wilde) and Stephen Berkoff (as the prosecuting counsel Edward Carson) will perform extracts from the trial at the British Library to celebrate the publication of the complete transcript, Irish Peacock and Scarlet Marquess, edited by Merlin Holland. The original transcript of the trial will be on display in the British Library's Treasures Gallery from April 10th 2003.
