I mean to start with it was all about Taliban, or al Qaeda or poppies or whatever. Then as soon as our boys get killed it's about them. I went out there to stop people fighting, now I'm part of the reason it goes on. Marvellous. Two months ago, Steph's soldier husband was killed in Afghanistan. One winter morning, just before dawn, he appears. Incoming examines Britain's place in the world, the sacrifices made for that place and the repercussions, both private and public, of those sacrifices. It is a first play of true wisdom and sensitivity, by the poet, novelist, critic and academic, Andrew Motion.
