In Care and
The Block are two brand new plays that are being staged after winning an online scriptwriting competition, run by National Youth Theatre through their online partner IdeasTap.
In Care by Isis is a fractured and fragmented play that takes a universal look at who is actually 'In Care.' From birth to death the story explores abandonment, love, belonging and the roles we play to create a sense of familiarity.
The Block by Tarkan Cetinkaya, who graduated from Playing Up 2 in 2009, is set on a run down tower block in inner city London and explores the tensions amongst the community who live here over immigration, violence, spirituality, life, death and living with the consequences of one's actions. Anger spills out and hope is born from despair. Ten characters. Ten stories. One block.
