Hijra archiveIt's the Bombay wedding season, when ambitious mothers hunt for future brides and grooms to the music and dancing of the Hijras, the rude, crude and lewd eunuchs, who, according to Hindu tradition, have the ability to grant wishes and cast spells. Nil's mother thinks she has found him a nice docile girl to settle down with - but Nils has already been cruising and found himself Raj, a nice Indian boy and adopted son of the Guru Hijra. Sparks fly when the plan to smuggle Raj back to Wembley dressed as a Rani, Nil's 'wife' misfires and it takes all of the Guru Hijra's supernatural powers to avoid disaster! Ash Kotak graduated from the London International Film School in 1987. He has written directed and produced several short films and has theatre commissions from the Theatre Royal Plymouth and the National Theatre Studio.
