Harry in the Moonlight is the story of a family and their colourful assortment of lodgers who live in a small house in a street by the River Exe. The father, Jack refuses to go for the x-rays that his doctor has recommended and has a past - linked to a love in the US - that is far more exotic than his current existence reveals. His wife Monica loves him but perhaps could have done better, and now scrubs her hands raw doing her lodgers laundry. Harry the electrician, ever on the lookout for love but always managing to be in the middle of an amorous disaster, is content that his pants are clean and would lodge in the house forever if he could, practising his dance steps in the quiet of midnight. Also lodging in the house are the two Mary's both chambermaids and both with a crush: not necessarily on the same man or indeed - depending which Mary you choose - even on a man. Then there's Colin, a stalwart of the local boxing club, resolutely refusing to go professional but may have taken one punch to the head too many already. Watching it all is Evvy, Jack and Monica's teenage daughter. As if she didn't have enough to put up with, being a teenager and all, she lives in a house full of crazy people. Then the rains come. The Exe rises, moving inexorably closer to the banks and the little house, and the lives and loves of all the people in it will be changed forever by what happens next.
