The play is set in July, 1816; known as the year without a summer - the year a monster was born. Lord Byron and his greatest friends - including Percy Shelley and Mary Godwin - are staying at his Villa Diodati, on the shore of Lake Geneva. While a storm swirls across the lake, another rages inside the villa as the writers amuse themselves with philosophical debate, and by telling ghost stories.
