Freedom archiveBased on the true story of a Ugandan orphan, Amelia, whose parents died in a house fire. Freedom powerfully depicts the themes of sex slavery, domestic violence and misogyny set against the backdrop of life in 1980's Uganda. Susanaah loves Amelia as if she were her own child. Susanaah's husband, Nsubuga resents Amelia as a drain on his dwindling finances. Nsubuga is a violent man who abuses both his wife Susanaah, and Amelia. Upon Susanaah's death, life for Amelia takes a radical turn for the worse.
