France in Scotland: Paris Calling - The Problem/Alta Villa

Work:: France in Scotland: Paris Calling (S01209075183)

PARIS CALLING is a year of Franco-British performance events. The year's partners include London's National Theatre, Northern Stage, the Barbican, the Royal Opera House, Tate Modern, Soho Theatre, the Curve, Nottingham Playhouse & the Bush, amongst others.

Production:: The Problem/Alta Villa (T0118670594)

This is a chance to preview these exciting plays and to join in post-show discussions afterwards with a panel including the translators: leading Scottish playwright Linda McLean (strangers, babies & Shimmer), Christopher Campbell (Literary Manager of the National Theatre, London) and Lucien and Micheline Attoun, the Artistic Directors of Théâtre Ouvert. For Paris Calling in 2009 the Traverse’s partner theatre is Paris’ Théâtre Ouvert. Located behind the Moulin Rouge, Théâtre Ouvert is a theatre that matches the Traverse’s long history of excellence and adventure in developing contemporary playwrights and their plays. The Traverse and Théâtre Ouvert are running translation residencies for selected contemporary playwrights in both countries and showcasing the results in both our theatres. The Traverse Theatre’s partnership between Scotland and France for 2009 as part of the Paris Calling year of events is supported by the French Embassy in the UK, la SACD, and CulturesFrance.
