Father of the Bride archivePoor Stanley Banks. He's the father of the bride! Stanley's the kind of guy who believes that weddings are simple affairs that happen when two people fall in love and get married. Oh yeah? When daddy's little girl announces her engagement, Stanley soon learns differently. For a start the guest list grows larger and larger and LARGER! A caterer is called in. And florists. Furniture movers and dress makers takeover. The household is soon in turmoil - not to mention growing debt. Stanley must host cocktail parties with the in-laws-to-be, initiate financial planning talks with his future son-in-law, and moderate family debates on who will and who will not be invited. Who can blame him when he sinks so low as to offer his daughter a substantial bribe to elope? This delightful and hilarious rendition of preparing for marital bliss has been filmed twice, most recently with STEVE MARTIN and DIANE KEATON. A comedic gem that pulls on the old heart strings
