Edge of Eternity/Valley of Hell archiveSince 1995 the Royal Court has been working with Al Kasaba Theatre Jerusalem to develop the work of Palestinian playwrights. As co-founder of Inad Theatre (Eng. Stubborn), director Raeda Ghazaleh is a major force in the creation of a new Palestinian theatre. Iman Bassir began writing for the theatre following her success as a short-story writer. Valley of Hell is the first play from renowned novelist and journalist Ahmad Rafiq Awad. Both playwrights took part in a Royal Court residency in Bethlehem in 1998. Raeda Ghazaleh will work in London on work-in-progress presentations of these two plays which address the personal and political problems of the people living in the region. Playwright Karim Alrawi returns to the Royal Court as translator of the plays.
