Between 1995 and 2002 four young soldiers were found dead in the Princess Royal Barracks at Deepcut in Surrey. Despite dying in conspicuously suspicious circumstances, the families involved are still waiting for a public inquiry. Whether the deaths were suicide, manslaughter or murder, the investigations were perfunctory and botched. Subsequent studies, including QC Nicholas Blake's 2004 Deepcut Review, lifted the lid on a culture of bullying, binge drinking and wanton promiscuity.
