They want a life of adventure in the Merchant Navy. And nothing is going to stop them. Not the U-Boats. Not the Luftwaffe. Not even their mums. Celebrating their indomitable spirit, heroism and humour, Cruel Sea was inspired by the living memories and experiences of Liverpool's war-time Merchant Navy and the people who experienced Liverpool at war.
