Otway is a jilted lover, a pathetic doleful creature whose heart has been broken by the girl of his dreams. He sits at the station dreaming of Cheryl who is leaving forever on the 10:30 to Slough. In a weedy broken voice he sings an increasingly over the top series of soppy love songs with the odd bit of angrily crashing punk guitar thrown in. Attila the cynic is bent on putting a stop to this sentimentality. In non-stop almost Shakespearian fashion he catalogues the crimes of Cheryl who is not only a drug addict but also a vivisectionist and Sun caption writer. His ranting rhymes are to no avail...jilted John still loves his little sweet pea.
