In a shop, suddenly, without warning, a young woman chewing gum, humming and chatting to her mates, goes pale, stops chewing, stops humming, stops chatting, looks at the frou-frou top she's been pondering, looks hard at it... then puts it back on the rail, replaces all the stuff she's been collecting to try on. Her mates watch concerned. The young woman looks genuinely confused and not a little bit frightened. "I've got tops! I don't need tops! I've got tops I've never worn." Claire Dowie's new piece examines out obsession 'to buy or not to buy' in a comical Kafkaesque world which is both familiar and unexpected.
