Brummegem Pals archiveThis theatre piece tells the story of best mates Jackie and Danny, seventeen years old and intent on abandoning their apprenticeships for adventure. In 1914 the threat of war rumbled in Europe. In August Britain declared war on Germany. Here was the opportunity they wanted, the chance for travel with wages, clothing and bed and board thrown in. They enlist in the 14th Royal Warwickshire Regiment Pals Battalion and serve through the Battle of the Somme, Italy and back to France. This is the story of the two boys, their lives, loves and families caught up in the horrors of the War. With new songs and "trench" songs sung by the soldiers - a story not to be missed.
