Blood Knot

Blood KnotT01094859089
Written and set in 1961 South Africa, Athol Fugard very substantially re-wrote and updated the play in 1985. Blood Knot is a powerful and moving study of the love-hate relationship between two brothers. Zachariah and Morris are officially classified as 'Coloured' (of mixed race) because they had a black mother, but reality one is completely black and the other completely white. Infinitely more universal than an anti-apartheid play, Blood Knot is a neglected world classic. Beautifully written, this is a lucid, poignant and humorous play which in the context of contemporary racial tensions closer to home is as strongly relevant today as ever. Suitable for ages 12 and above and adults.
