Bitter with a Twist archiveIn a North London flat, two men of a certain age wait for their lives to reach glorious fulfilment. They've been waiting for 38 years. Meet Phil and Ted - or should that be Philip and Edward? - out of work, out of luck and out of their minds on cheap beer. Men of a certain age. Men capable of great deeds. Men capable of terrible misbehaviour..But hold on! 'What about this blind date? Just who are borstal belle Lucy and the possibly alluring Natascha, whose uncle played drums for Shirley Bassey in the sixties? Why have they agreed to come to dinner? Do they know something we don't? Or are they simply out of their minds, too? And what exactly has Doctor Herring, the neighbourly psychologist, got to do with all this? For those of your who thought Withnail and I lacked alcohol-fuelled misbehaviour! For those of you who thought The Odd Couple lacked all-round oddness! For those of you who thought Waiting for Godot lacked..Godot..we present Bitter with a Twist, a black comedy by Simon Treves - a coherent friend in a slightly slurred world.
