Beauty and the Beast

Work:: Beauty and the Beast (S751657822)

The story of Belle and the prince turned to a beast till he can make someone love him.

Production:: (T1081555392)

This is the story of a Prince who is punished by a witch for a past misdeed and turned into a monster. He is forced to live alone as The Beast in an enchanted castle until he can be redeemed by pure love, which comes to him in the shape of Beauty, a merchant's daughter. Based on a seventeenth century French fairytale, this wonderfully entertaining, magical piece of theatre is much closer to Jean Cocteau's classic film, La Belle et La Bete than to the numerous pantomime and musical versions, and tells a poignant story of human weakness and salvation in a way which is funny, sad and profoundly moving. Not suitable for children younger than 7.
