Battle Lines: uncovering 100 years of war in Hampshire archiveLooking at the region's experiences of war, 'Battle Lines' is a trilogy of short plays exploring the way three wars have shaped the lives of generations. WW1: 'The Call Up'. A century ago a small village community sees a generation of young men leave to fight for King and Country. When the men are gone what happens to those that remain? WW2: 'Keep Smiling Through'. As bombs fall on coastal cities, children are uprooted and spirited away to the relative safety of the countryside. The way their new community welcomes the evacuees will stay with them for years to come. MODERN WARFARE: 'In Our Name' This play looks at how modern warfare challenges both those that fight and the people they are fighting for.
