Alice in Wonderland

Work:: Alice in Wonderland (S01515643794)

.
Author Lewis Carroll

Production:: (T1448075641)

Volcano blasts apart another well-loved classic and puts it back together in its own utterly inimitable fashion. So many out-of-the-way things had happened lately, that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible. Step into an upside-down world where familiar things are made strange, with enchanting and horrifying results. Alice in Wonderland is about crossing the threshold between childhood and adulthood, and about the behaviour of one generation seen through the eyes of another. It is about things not being as they should be. Volcano's "brave, stupid and beautiful" (audience comment) brand of theatre is an intriguing match for Lewis Carroll's exquisitely deranged tale of childhood, misunderstanding and adventure. Volcano brings you an older-than-usual Alice, in a production where the strangeness of the world she encounters is not supernatural but deeply rooted in the insanities of our culture and society. Plunge with us down the rabbit-hole into a 21st Century asylum adventure, full of Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision. Running time: approx. 1hr 30mins. Age recommendation 12+
