Addictions - A Trilogy - The Hurdle/Take the High Road/The Girl in the Red, Short, Shorts

Addictions - A Trilogy

Work:: Addictions - A Trilogy (S798738034)

A rehearsed reading of three one act plays that take a deep and achingly funny look into the lives of three women and their dependencies. The Hurdle - After fleeing London to escape the aftermath of a painful divorce, British novelist, Chastrel, finds herself broke and alone in Hawaii. Enter Ettore, a handsome, wealthy Italian who falls head-over-heels in love with her. Will this be 'happily ever after?' Or could Chastrel s long-running love affair with drinking, destroy their relationship? Take the High Road - Lisa s brother commits suicide. Beside his body lies a nearly empty pack of Marlboro Lights. Lisa imagines that by smoking his last cigarette, she can somehow bring him back. Months later her obsession has turned her into a compulsive smoker. She tries to break the habit through Narco Hypnosis. As she undergoes treatment, the parallels between her life and her brothers become strikingly clear. Is Lisa going to suffer the same fate as her sibling? Or will she find the strength to overcome her demons? The Girl in the Red, Short, Shorts - Hilary is an American war photographer whose career is fading fast. An anonymous phone call reports that a bomb is about to go off in the British Embassy in New York. Will Hilary alert the authorities, or will she exploit the tragedy in a desperate attempt to recapture her former glory? Can the arrival of childhood pal, Kathleen O Connor, upset Hilary s plans?
