Miles Coombes unhappy marriage to Rowena is equalled only by Celia Teasdale s unsatisfactory union with Toby. Both of them feel unwanted, unappreciated and neglected. Indeed, they feel they have enough in common, this glumly mismatched couple, to embark on an extra-marital adventure which they hope will lead to romance and happiness - besides teaching their respective partners a sharp lesson into the bargain.
