Write to Play events focus on a prolific playwright, changing venues each time and striving to give audiences the opportunity to engage with playwrights. In the Same Boat, a new company focusing on playwrights, will present Write to Play - an evening with one of Britain’s most controversial and successful playwrights to emerge in the 1990s, Mark Ravenhill, on Sunday 30 November at 8pm at Theatre 503, The Latchmere. The audience will be introduced to Mark Ravenhill’s life and work after which volunteers can participate in reading from Mark’s rarely seen play about the Millennium Dome and the community it changed forever, North Greenwich and join in a discussion with him about his styles, methods and themes of writing. Mark Ravenhill is known for his controversial plays with their acute social observation. Within a decade Mark moved from putting on small productions at fringe venues to becoming an Associate Director at the National Theatre. Since then he has written plays for many of the leading British theatre companies, for television and radio and writes a regular column on culture for The Guardian This marks the first event of the company In the Same Boat which will focus on one prolific playwright every month, changing venues each time and striving to give audiences the opportunity to directly engage with playwrights.
