For more than 20 years Graham Pointon ran one of the smallest, busiest and most controversial departments of the BBC. As Pronunciation Adviser he had to set an acceptable standard of spoken English for broadcasters - a task that draws more than its fair share of flak from those who think they know better! Apart from advising reporters and new presenters, Graham's work also covered Television and Radio Drama, helping actors to cope convincingly with Gaelic or Chaucer's Middle English. Now retired, he has some interesting and forthright views on how the spoken work has changed in recent years. Come and enjoy this informal evening with an opportunity for questions and answers.
