In 1937, 'Mass Observation' was set up to investigate "the science of the everyday", recording in minute detail the banalities and drama of ordinary lives in Britain. By 1939, "the everyday" had become World War 2 and the project had taken on a whole new meaning. Inspired by this archive and the dawning realisation that living memory of Word War II is slipping away, Inspector Sands offer a glimpse of a new piece of work at its earliest stage.
