Details

In 1956 George Devine founded the Royal Court, calling for a theatre where the experimentalists of the modern era may be seen, with hard-hitting, uncompromising writers. This mission is unchanged, and at the Royal Court the playwright remains the central artist, committed to making work that is provocative, searching, politically urgent and formally experimental. We have been finding, nurturing and developing the boldest, brightest and best playwrights for the past 60 years. Playwrights such as John Osborne, Arnold Wesker, Howard Brenton, Caryl Churchill. Mark Ravenhill, Sarah Kane, Lucy Kirkwood, Nick Payne, Jez Butterworth and Martin McDonagh and many, many more. Join us in celebration on our anniversary as we throw open the doors to our iconic Sloane Square home and welcome you to a wild party, 60 years in the making.
