Details

Our hands are more than just tools; they are a vital part of our personalities. Andrew Dawson presents the human hand in all its subtlety and complexity. With insight and humour, he conveys what miraculous and expressive devices our hands really are. With a mix of live performance, interviews, old movie clips and music, Andrew Dawson uncovers the grace, beauty and psychological consequences of impairments of the hand. In collaboration with Jonathan Cole, neuroscientist and author, the work articulates the experience of impairment by uniting the insight of the scientist, with the empathy of the artist. The Articulate Hand is the perfect bridge between the layperson and the scientist. For the former it provides a fascinating insight into neurology; for the latter it puts flesh on the dry bones of theory.
